Shasta Mock Trial

WHO ARE WE?

Shasta Mock Trial is a community based collaboration of college students and local professionals dedicated to the enrichment of young adults through the platform of Mock Trial.

WHAT IS MOCK TRIAL?

IMG_7906.JPG

Mock trial is a competition where teams of students present a criminal or civil case as either the prosecution, plaintiff or defense against another team of students presenting the opposing side of the case.  Students fill different roles, from attorneys, to witnesses, all the way to a bailiff and clerk. Then, using the various witness statements provided, students build their cases, and put them on in real courtrooms, in front of real judges.

WHO CAN PARTICIPATE?

All middle school and high school students in the Shasta and Siskiyou County areas are welcome! If interested check out the "membership" page for more info!

WHY DO MOCK TRIAL?

Mock Trial is the most impactful activity a student can participate in.  Students develop critical thinking, organization and communication skills in an atmosphere that emphasizes leadership, teamwork and humility.  Students who participate in Shasta Mock Trial are renowned for civility, creativity and integrity.

COMPETITIONS

In California, the State Championship tournament, which only schools may participate in, is sponsored by the Constitutional Rights Foundation.  Other competitions, for which Shasta Mock Trial fields teams, are sponsored by Goldenstate Mock Trial, Empire Mock Trial and Stand Up Mock Trial.  Shasta Mock Trial collaborators have coached students who have participated in all those tournaments.
